The following Scholarships are available for students that belong(or parents belong) to credit unions: (in order by date)
Scholarship Name: Nova Scotia Teacher's Credit Union Educational Awards-$750
Due Date: Monday, May 15, 2005
For Who?: Must be a member of the Nova Scotia Teacher's Credit Union or child of a member
Amount: 2 awards of $1000 for for any student advancing to a Community College or similar institution
Details: Awards are based on academic achievement and participation in school and community
How to apply: Download application here. Applicants should include a copy of their resume, grade XI School Certificate and Transcript of grade XII marks to date, a letter of recommendation from their high school Guidance Counselor / Administrator, and a letter of recommendation relating to their community activities. Scholarship Name: Coastal Financial Credit Union
Due Date: Friday, June 9, 2006
For Who?: Student or parent must be a member of coastal Financial Credit Union for at least 1 year
Amount: 4 individual $1000 bursaries
Details: Open to graduates from local high schools continuing their education at either a University of Community College. Eligible candidates will be selected from either Yarmouth, Barrington, Ecole secondaire de Par-en-Bas or Drumlin Heights High Schools. The graduate must have a co-operate spirit at school and in his/her community, as well as demonstrating leadership and motivation. Scholastic achievement will be taken into consideration; please submit the transcript of your marks.
How to apply: Fill out application (Download one here) or get one from guidance office, submit a transcript of marks and a 100 word essay on: "what does your Credit Union mean to your community?" Drop application, essay and transcript off at your local Coastal Financial Credit Union Branch by deadline.
