The following Scholarships are available for music students: (in order by date)
Scholarship Name: Performing Arts Award for African NS Students
Scholarship Name: Debut Atlantic RBC Music Award
Due Date: Monday, Jan 15th, 2007
For Who?: Music students in Altantic Canada in Jr. and Sr.High. Must be a Canadian Citizen.
Amount: $1000. Not only does the winner receive a $1000 prize but they are also recognized at a Debut Atlantic concert.
Details: The award which was established in 1999 is funded through an endowment fund created by the RBC Foundation and Debut Atlantic Society. So far the award has recognized winners or honourable mentions from all four Atlantic provinces.
Applicants must prepare and submit the following to receive consideration from the jury:
1) A good quality cassette tape or CD recording of the following:
one classical piece,
one romantic piece,
one contemporary piece
(Please include repertoire information (title, composer) for the pieces submitted.) 2)
Letters of reference from:
your music teacher,
two others who are aware of your commitment to music studies
3) A signed copy of the completed application form

Due Date: Monday, May 15, 2006
For Who?: Grade 12 Student who has made a significant contribution which has enriched the community in the field of music, attending a post-secondary institution.
Amount: $50

For Who?: Available to African Nova Scotian (Black) students who have successfully completed Grade 12 in the public school system of Nova Scotia within the current year. applicant must be enrolled on a full-time basis in the first or second year of a recognized university degree program (i.e. Bachelor of Music)
have a concentration in one of the performing arts genre, i.e. music, voice, dance, theatrical performances;
have demonstrated qualities of performing arts through participation in student activities and community affairs.
Amount: $1000
Details: The Education Incentive Program for African Nova Scotian Students was established in 1965 by the Government of Nova Scotia to assist and encourage African Nova Scotian students to continue their education in high schools, community college, technical institutes, universities and other approved post-secondary institutions. This program has evolved into the Scholarship and Awards Program for African Nova Scotian Students.
