Scholarship Name: FAAY Scholarship for Aboriginal Youth
Due Date: Friday, October 13th, 2006
For Who?: Aboriginal students (status, non-status, Metis and Inuit) who are Canadian citizens, enrolled full time in a Canadian school located in Canada.
Amount: 50 bursaries of $750 for high school students (grades 9-12) and 85 scholarships or $2500 to $4000 for full time students enrolled in university, college or technical institute.
Details: Operated by CCAB, the Foundation for the Advancement of Aboriginal Youth is the scholarship and bursary program dedicated to developing the next generation of Aboriginal leaders. By encouraging Aboriginal youth to stay in school, FAAY bridges the gap between the reality which kids confront in their communities and the opportunities available to those with higher education.
How to apply: To apply for a FAAY award, you should:
--Fill out the FAAY application form;
--Write an essay letting us know why you should receive an award;
--Obtain a certified original copy of your latest transcript from your school;
--Have a teacher write a letter of reference about you;
--Have a community member who knows you write a letter of reference about you;
--Get a new picture of yourself taken;
--Put it all together and send it to:

Scholarship Name: Arthur Paulin Scholarship (Automotive)
Due Date: Monday, October 31, 2006
For Who?: Applicants must be enrolled in an automotive aftermarket industry related program or curriculum at a Canadian college or university. This includes students pursuing their studies as an automotive apprentice. It also includes studies in any of the following automotive sectors: auto body, hard parts, heavy duty, or motive power (machinists).
Amount: $700
Details: The Arthur Paulin Automotive Scholarship Award was named after long time AIA volunteer Arthur Paulin. Arthur served as President of H. Paulin and Company Limited for over 35 years, he became Chairman of the Board in 1990. Arthur never lost his passion for developing new products, new packaging, and new and better catalogues. He was a teacher and mentor to all who knew him.
The Arthur Paulin Automotive Aftermarket Scholarship Awards program was established by members of the Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA) to provide monetary assistance to deserving students who wish to further their education in the automotive field. The Scholarship Awards were designed to:
Promote professionalism within the automotive aftermarket,
Create awareness of the aftermarket industry and attract new people to the industry, and
Advance the state of knowledge within the industry.
How to apply: Download Application Form here. In addition to theofficial scholarship application form, Arthur Paulin Automotive Aftermarket Scholarship applicants must provide the following documentation:
A letter from the applicant stating his/her long-term automotive goals. The applicant's letter should briefly outline why they believe they should be considered for this scholarship. It may include a summary of past school and work experience.
A letter from the applicant's primary automotive instructor stating why the instructor feels the scholarship applicant is worthy of receiving the scholarship. This may include the applicant's academic achievements, natural ability, hard work, professionalism, teamwork, attention to detail, initiative, etc.
A copy of the scholarship applicant's most recent academic record should be included. Overall academic achievements, as well as achievements specifically related to the automotive sector, should be included.
A brief outline of the scholarship applicant's demonstrated leadership and civic abilities. These abilities do not necessarily have to be automotive related, but should be evident in the applicant's interactions in their school or community environments. Examples of leadership and civic interests include, but are not limited to, acting as class president, working as a volunteer for a charitable or community group, and participating as a member of a service club.
An outline of financial considerations as they relate to the student's pursuit of their automotive studies. The scholarship applicant's degree of need should be clearly demonstrated. Other scholarships or awards won by the applicant should be noted, as well as the applicant's ability to continue his/her studies based on financial considerations. Also apply online here.

Scholarship Name: Canadian Merit Scholarship-Sponsored
Due Date: Tuesday, October 24, 2006
For Who?: Any student with a minimum 85% average and attending one of the folowing universities: Bishop's University, Dalhousie University, Lakehead University, McGill University, McMaster University, Memorial University, Mount Allison University, Queen's University, Simor Fraser University, Universite Laval, Universite de Moncton, Universite de Montreal, University of Alberta, University of British Columbia, University of Calgary, University of Guelph, University of King's College, University of Manitoba, University of New Brunswick, University of Ottawa, University of Saskatchewan, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, University of Western Ontario, York University.
Amount: Up to $8,000 per year plus a tuition stipend for up to four years of full-time undergraduate study at any one of our participating Canadian universities.
Details: CMSF is Canada's largest independent granting organization of awards for postsecondary undergraduate study. We identify and support scholars who combine academic excellence with strong leadership potential, entrepreneurial skill and a commitment to service in the community. We place them on university campuses across Canada, where we expect them to contribute significantly and honourably, as exemplary citizens, among the undergraduate student body. ***This scholarship is for students that YCMHS sponsors. YCMHS can sponsor only three students. It is the responsibility of the student to let guidance know if they wish to be considered for sponsorship at least ten days prior to the deadline. If you are not selected, you may apply for the direct pool.
Scholarship Name: TD Canada Trust Scholarships
(Canada)
Due Date: Monday, October 31, 2006 All applicants will be notified in writing by the end of February 2007 as to their status.
For Who?: If you're a young Canadian who has made a difference in your community, we want to hear from you. The TD Canada Trust Scholarship for Community Leadership rewards students who have shown leadership in the areas of local employment programs, environmental cleanup, support group creation, and family services initiatives.
Scholarships are open to students across Canada who -
Are in their final year of high school, or CEGEP (in Quebec)
Have demonstrated outstanding community leadership
Possess the academic skills to successfully enter and complete college or university
Amount: 20 awards of up to $50,000. Atlantic Canada will have a minimum of two full scholarship recipients, provided there are suitable, qualified applicants.
Details: Your outstanding and consistent concerns for the improvement of your community, could make you eligible for a scholarship to cover the cost of your post-secondary education.

Each scholarship is valued at up to $60,000 and includes -
Up to $10,000 for tuition per year,

To be eligible for consideration, every application must include -
A fully completed signed application,
A transcript of your academic record,
One essay of up to 500 words by your describing the community leadership involvement that is the basis of the application,
Three letters of support or confirmation from the community group, groups, or individuals who have been the focus of the student's involvement
and A letter of recommendation from your school.
No other materials will be reviewed by the judges.
