The following Scholarships are available for the month of September: (in order by date)


Scholarship Name: Johnson  Scholarship
Due Date: Thursday, Sept 15, 2005.  Apply the September after you graduate.
For Who?:   Members/Employees and their Dependents of the Clients of Johnson Incorporated are eligible to apply.   Individual Policyholders and their Dependents are also eligible.   The Scholarship is based on the grade average achieved for the final year of high school, together with information contained in a reference letter provided by a school faculty member and a letter from the Applicant containing school and community activities and future plans.
Amount:  $1000 each
Details:   The Johnson Scholarships were established and funded in 1998 by Paul J. Johnson and Members of the Corporate Leadership Team.  Completed applications will contain an official school transcript of final year credits, a reference letter from a school faculty member and a letter from the Applicant describing activities in school and the community, and future plans. Selection of successful applicants should be complete within 8 weeks of the deadline. Please be advised that as a condition of application the applicant consents to Johnson Inc. publicly announcing the name of each successful Scholarship applicant, his/her home province and the Johnson Sponsor Organization through whom the applicant applied.

Scholarship Name:  Believing in Greatness Essay Contest
Due Date: Sunday, September 30, 2007
For Who?:    This scholarship is available grade 11 and 12 students. Recipients of the scholarships will be determined based on quality of work submitted.
Amount:  Up to $10,000 available.
Details:   Students must submit an essay no longer than 500 words on ONE of the following topics to be eligible for the scholarships:   
Topic 1: What do you believe is the greatest literary work of all time, and why?
Topic 2: Who do you believe is the greatest inventor of all time, and why?
Topic 3: What single event in the period of the 20th century (1900-2000) do you believe will have the greatest influence over the 21st century?

Scholarship Name:  Wendy's Classic Achiever
Due Date: Wednesday, December 20, 2006- can apply from Sept 1-Dec 31
For Who?:
  Academic excellence; school and community involvement.   High school students in their graduating year who worked hard and gave back to their communities.
Amount:  10 awards of $2,000, 20 awards of $1,000, 180 awards of $500
Details:   The program will again recognize Canadian high school students in their graduating year who have not only worked hard, but have given back to their communities. Ideal candidates are well-rounded students that excel in three areas: scholastic achievement, extracurricular activity and community involvement. Recipients of scholarships will be honored as: "Wendy's Classic Achievers"
